I think we were talking about a control base for AG's.
Well, first I went here:
http://probe.nal.usda.gov:8300/cgi-bin/webace?db=pvp&class=Plant_Variety_Pro
tection_Number&object=8500204
and got PVP info for Dill's Atlantic Giants.
I then wanted to know what the term "GRIN " shown at the end of the Taxon
was.
That took me to this page:
http://www.ars-grin.gov/cgi-bin/npgs/html/tax_search.pl?Cucurbita+maxima
Following the Grin link at the bottom of the page, then following the "The
National Plant Germplasm System (NPGS)" to this page
http://www.ars-grin.gov/npgs/
Searching from the above produced the GRIN number PI 601256
Then going to the "Request Germplasm" page at
http://www.ars-grin.gov/npgs/orders.html
It appears someone could get a sample of the very material Howard Dill
started with in 1985.
I admit I don't know if this is right but thought it was worth sharing.
