females shrivel and die before ever opening

Hi Group, I need some advice, I have been growing for a while but last year and this year I have had a problem, my plants are strong and healthy, with big green leaves, vines growing a foot or more a day, lots of male flowers open every day. The problem is the females that appear just shrivel and die before the flowers ever even open. What could be the possible cause of this. All responses will be apreciated, Thanks, Brian Freeman Personal best 482 lbs weighed at Altoona PA
