Lord Sauron and the Fellowship of the Gourds

Mid-summer update from the Zunino patches in middle earth. Lord
Sauron, the unspeakable gourd from god knows where, vies for
total domination of the patch, while a fellowship of gourds has
risen to defeat him.

In the shire patch, the awesome strength of beauty is
expressing itself in the elf pumpkin princess Arwen, (1191
Zunino).  She is riding like the wind averaging 32 pounds a day
from day 20 to 30 and 29 pounds a day from day 30 to 40.  She
taped around 750 pounds at day forty and is still keeping up a
torrid pace.  

Her patch mate Frodo (1191 Slusarek) replaces Pippen who was
culled for his poor judgment.  Frodo got off to a tremendous
late start but has been wounded twice already and looks dubious
to finish.  He taped 123" circ. at 30 days but lost his blossom
stub to rot and was subsequently poisoned by the nasty paste I
coated his blossom stub with.  A rash of dying skin has
radiated from the blossom area and now covers about a third of
the pumpkin.   He's still growing 30 pounds a day but his days
may be numbered.

In the Mount Doom patch Lord Sauron is gathering strength but
has fallen behind Arwen.  He taped about 650 at day forty and
is only gaining 20 pounds a day.  With his heart of stone
though he may go heavy.  

Next to Sauron in the lands of Mordor, Gandalf the Orange (1069
Zunino) has fallen out of the race.  Taping a paltry 520 at 40
days, his weight gains are dropping into the abyss.
