RE: Hole in pumpkin at stem

Your situation does not pose a problem because the water will drain away.

Subject: Hole in pumpkin at stem

Hi all,
I've got a 500 lber going but its developed two holes above and below the
stem. Each are about 1 1/2 inches long and 1/2 inch wide. I patched with
captan. Inside the holes it does not seem gooey like its rotting. But the
holes are slowly getting larger as the pumpkin continues to grow. I'm keeping
the sun on it to keep it dry. Any ideas on how to control or stop it? Will
the pumpkin still be weigh-in eligible with those problems?

Any feedback is appreciated.

Thanks

Steve Maydan, Ct.
