When I visit my pumpkin, it always has one or more garter snakes (racers) on it. Should this concern me?

Snakes typically eat insects and small rodents. They are probably helping to keep your pumpkin safe.

You will want to be careful not to be bitten, but I wouldn't worry about them otherwise - although I'd keep a real close eye on my pumpkins to make sure there wasn't any rodent damage occurring.
