They are just using it as a "deck" in order to heat themselves.

Snakes typically eat insects and small rodents. They are
probably helping to keep your pumpkin safe.
You will want to be careful not to be bitten, but I wouldn't
worry about them otherwise - although I'd keep a real close
eye on my pumpkins to make sure there wasn't any rodent
damage occurring.
