bugs!!!

I just got home from a four day weekend. (They are better when they last
four days.) Anyway, I found a few leaves were broken off at the stem as a
result of a big wind storm we had. I got look and found a half dozen
bugs that look like a weevil of some sort. I will look in my reference
books at work, but I was wondering if any of you folks might have some
idea as to what it is. I only found them on one plant and only at the
damaged leaves. I am also very happy to say that I have three pumpkins
that are taking off and growing well. My biggest had an over the top
measurement of 93.5 inches. That is about 80 inches more than what I
thought I would end up with in the fall. My giant kholorabi is also
looking well. I dont know what the heck happened to the giant squash.
It appears to have gotten so big and then stopped. Oh well. My hot
peppers are also looking quite well. It was my first year for them too.
Does anyone out there grow muskmelon or cantaloupe. My plant looks
really good with lots of flowers, but it does not look like it is getting
pollinated. Any tips? Sorry for veering off of pumpkins. It has been
30 C to 35 C and no rain, but I imagine the snow that will be on the
ground in two and a half months or so and I find myself praying that the
heat will stay.
Take care
Sean in Alberta
