Re: Cheating

Vanessa,

Those are pretty far fetched stories but never the less cheating certainly
has occurred in the past. Typically what has been discovered is water that
has been pumped into the pumpkin via I.V.

The estimating weight charts are pretty accurate these days and it would be
very obvious if someone weighed in with a pumpkin that was excessively over
the weight charts!

In this case the various methods you describe, including cutting the
pumpkin open maybe employed by the Site Coordinator and or Judges who will
also have the finale say in the matter.

Patching holes or cracks in a pumpkin, as far as I am aware, is also
grounds for disqualification at any weigh off contest be it a GPC,WPC or at
an independent site!

The pumpkin must be in good condition with no penetrations into the cavity
of the fruit.
