My Progress (or lack of)

Hi all!

Well it was a sad day in my patch today. My best prospect had to be cut
off. It split on both sides a few days ago. I kept it on just on faith
and it kept growing at a reasonable rate in spite of the splits. Tonight,
I reached underneath and yecch. Mush! I cut it off and flipped it over
and there was a gaping mouldy hole there. Deep down, I knew this was
likely to happen, based on what I had read on the mailing list.

I still have one fruit left on this plant. It is not likely to catch up
however. I also have another fruit on my "experimental" plant that is
doing not too bad. It is growing at a rate slightly better than my
previous best. If it gets as big as my personal best, I will still
consider the season a success. In hindsight, this experimental plant
should have been my "main" plant. It has not been given the same intensive
treatment, loving care, or space as the main one, yet the fruit had better
potential I believe. Who knew?

I'm beginning to wonder if I overwatered and/or overfertilized the one that
split (#4-97).

Here are some stats for anyone who wishes to compare:
