No Subject

This is my first year of trying to grow a big pumpkin...... I was wondering if something could be missing from the soil since I have not had allot of female flowers.....but allot of males?  It is also true with the regular size pumpkins that I grow to make pies out of. 
 
I do have one big pumpkin about I would guess 30 to 40 LB. and still growing.
 
One other question.....will the big pumpkin turn from yellow to orange when it gets as big as it's going to get?
