answer a question ask a question: Howard Dill has 120 days growing time listed on his seed packages. remember that is 120 days from planting, not 120 days of pumpkin growth from pollenation. A pumpkin will not grow forever but will mature and stop growing at some point. most of the growth occurs in 60 days, I think all of the growth occurs in 90 days. I don't know if the plant would keep growing and growing in a controled environment? on every AG that i have grown the first true leaves seem to "get old" and die. would this happen to all the leaves eventually ? if the plant would continue growing then could you plant really early ( inside your giant green house) and not pollenate a female till the plant was, say, 4-6 months old with hundreds of leaves ? or does a big pumpkin have to be grown fairly close to the stump to get the growth from the main root system? how much would it cost to turn my whole back yard, 6000 sq ft. into a controled green house and do you think my wife would let me ??? answer: more than I have and No. Gordon Tanner Maple Valley, WA >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Has any one tackled this. If you had a totally controlled environment could you grow a pumpkin year round? Or would it reach a point of maturation , at say 60, 90, 110,130, days and then stop growing. How many growth days can we typically expect from an AG. Are there any statistics on the age in days of any of the largest pumpkins?
