Hi everyone,
2 of my best pumpkins have developed stem splits shortly after terminating
the main vine 15'-17' out from the pumpkin. Where did I go wrong? The only
fertilizer I added this year was 2-lbs of 45*0*0 on 7/15/98 on a 50'x60
patch. I have not water-logged the patch nor let it get real dry. The temps
have not been above 85f. The only correlation i can see is the main vine
termination.
Has anyone out there seen this or is there another possible reason such has
low nitrogen, drought, growing too fast, stem stress, cool nights-hot days,
sevin application or just bad luck?
