Well everyone,
The largest pumpkin I know of this summer went down over night last night. I
went out first thing after I woke up and groggily made my way out to see
Scar.
I told it good morning, and looked over the stem. It had split another 1/2
inch on the new top split, but no problem, minor flesh wound. Then as I went
to move its name tag attached to the blossom I saw a hole about the size of
Sherrie LaRues #1016 that went directly to the seeds. No amount of
scientific
stem work can save it now. I will weigh it in tonight and take final
measurements on a flat surface. Scar was 43 days old.
