Mike,
The late Jim Bowen, of the Redwood Drive In crowd, said that plants
don't like to go to bed with wet feet. I don't water my pumkin at night
but I do run drip irrigation on trees, veggies, and flowers over night. I
have not had a problem with rot. A general thought is that watering at
night makes plants pron to funguses.
Question, do you have time to sit and watch a root dripping for 2-3
hours? :) If you are at the market on Sat. I'll probably have some pumpkin
measurements.
Wishing you would invite me over for a cold beer,
Beth in Boonville
