Hester update!

Well I can't beleive it, but the 627.5 Hester seed I planted 2-3 weeks ago
already has a pumpkin, (70 inches circ) on it! I knew it grew fast but SHEESH!
O.K., maybe not, but still it is doing pretty good. The stem split and
flattened a little but it still seems to be O.K. The first leaves on it are SO
delicate though, almost like lettuce. I can see why the rabbits and gophers
liked the first one so much. Nothing is getting at this though, I have a cage
around it still, and floating row cover material over that. Maybe since the
pumpkin will be in it's final stages during cool weather, it won't face the
same fate as it's cousin "Scar" did. Who knows!
