upside down pumpkin

Weird things seem to be attracted to my garden. It turns out my largest
pumpkin is growing absolutely upside down, with the stem down and the
blossom end poking straight up.

I expect this creature requires some special care. Does anyone know how I
can avoid stem stress in this case? Maybe mound the soil up under the
shoulders of the gourd (here, the area surrounding the stem) so it can't
press down on the stem?
