I have no idea about vine borers and cuc. beetles since I grow in a part
of the country that doesn't have those problems but is cursed with
90-100 degree days most of the summer. So . . . my first thought is
that your leaves got burned by the sun on a really hot day. When that
happens to me about 1/3 of the leaf gets all dried out and wilted. This
usually happens when the leaves are just forming. If you're using
misters this probably wouldn't happen. I run the overhead sprinklers
from abouit 1:00 to 4:00 on 93 degree days.
