Last year, I have found that I had a better germination rate by sprouting
the seeds in a moist paper towel, put in a sealed plastic baggie, and lay
that baggie on a heating pad (moisten the heat pad cloth). I set the
heating pad on low and checked the seed daily. As soon as I saw
germination, I transferred the seed to a pot with sterilized soil and
placed back onto the heating pad "set on low" and placed entire contents
under some growing lights.
Generally when you try to start the seeds in soil, you may get seed rot
because the soil might be too wet, too hot, or compacted too tightly.
Bill Sadowski, only a thought!
