Re: Cloning

      Bonnett,

I tried this but the part that I cut off (w/o the main root), it was always wilted and it did not grow very much after that.
But I'm still thinking about doing it next year, but this time I'll do it closer to the main tap root. But only after tthe vine has its own roots, and lots of them. I think to do this you would have to make the cut as soon as possible, so it could recover and continue to grow soon enough to make a nice size pumpkin.

I have a question.  Where the plant roots under the leaf and produce a new lateral, is it possible to root this in a pot, detach from the parent plant and grow else where.  This would be a clone of the parent plant, possibly a proven one.  Does any body else have any thought on this??
