Thanks for the reference, G. For those of you who would rather trap than
poison...in my hands the best bait has been sliced apples with some vanilla
extract on them. Also, I cover the traps with cheap old dark colored towels
and put a few drops of vanilla extract on the towels. I have caught many
groundhogs/woodchucks with these tools. I'd probably catch fewer if I put
my traps out earlier, but I don't usually feel the urge until the tips of a
few pumpkin vines have been chewed off.
