Montana Mike

Mike, I replied directly to you but it all came back as having "fatal
errors".

You asked about starting up a pumpkin competition.

I did this last year. I got lots of seed, got the local paper as a
sponsor and that was that. Lots of free advertising, people sought out
the newspaper as it carried hints and tips of what to do so they were
happy. The work is in the weigh - off. Organising etc. I did have a
volunteer to help and it all worked out well. We gave away 151 packets
of seed and had 79 pumpkins at the weigh - off. Make sure you can get
some digital scales and somebody trustworthy to check the weights, our
Mayor did ours. A few simple prizes of tee shirts etc and you are on
your way. You will find it will grow like topsy. I think the key is to
keep it simple and get the local paper involved.

Cheers
John S.
