Stumps

If you can wait a year or two, you might try ordering some mushroom plug
spawn from a place like fungi perfecti (at http://www.fungi.com/) or one
of the other mushroom companies, and innoculate your stump with it.  In a
year or two the stump will be significantly softened as the mushrooms
consume and decompose it, and should come right out.  If you do this be
sure to get a type of mushroom that is happy in an aromatic softwood like
fir.

Of course having that extra seed makes waiting a year or two
a little difficult... :-)
