I have only once had problems with excess manure. I had my father haul
fresh runny hog manure on a 50' x 100' area every day for 6 months. The
problem was that the pigs that produced the manure were being given magnesium
supplements. This raised my magnesium levels to near toxicity. All other
nutrients were very high, so I still planted pumpkins on this site. By
taking measures to amend the soil and supplementing the plants with daily
liquid fertilizer to balance the effects of the unbalanced soil I managed to
produce a 614.5 lber of of this location. I personally would haul as much
manure as you have time to work into the patch. However, be sure to test the
soil and amend any imbalances that occur. Hope this helps.
