Yeah Chris, I have about the same system as you do.
The only difference is that mine puts out more water.
As for those eternal pets from hell, the Vine borers, it will hinder them so
long as the spray is hitting them.
But don't think for one second they won't find a way around it.
They'll just wait until the water isn't runing.
Some will just crawl under the leaves since that where they lay their eggs
anyway.
The best thing for vine borers is a good sturdy fly swatter, a good eye, and
a weekly does of Mythoxychlor.
I've killed as many as 17 adult moths in one month this way.
Once you get an eye for the flitting movements they make, they're not hard
to spot.
As for cuke beetles, water just makes mine go on the underside of the leaf.
But a good does of sevin has always worked for me.
Also our eastern cuke beetles are just smarter than your west coast beetles
