Burying vines
In response to burying vines, two years ago I started burying my vines very
early. I started by covering my primary vine. This turned out to be a big
mistake as I got no secondary vines at all where I had buried. I would agree
with letting the vines get out to two or three feet before starting to bury
and not even thinking about burying the tips of the vines until they have
grown as far as you want them to go.
Doesn't it seem odd that on the one hand we are talking about burying the
vines to stimulate root growth while on the other hand there are growers
taking out every other vine? Maybe we should wonder if taking the leaves off
every other vine and burying that entire vine as it grows has any merit?
This could be a long winter.
