Sometimes, when I tell people I grow giant pumpkins, they ask me about
feeding the vine/pumpkin milk or sugar water. Often, they ask about using a
hypodermic needle to do so. I wonder if some of this stuff is coming from
the same source. Maybe there is something to it?

Okay, I have had this question for some time now. Since I have a connection
to people who know what they are doing, I thought it may be a good time to
ask. We have a children's book, 'The Biggest Pumpkin Ever,' by Steven
Kroll. In it there are two mice who find a pumpkin. They water and
fertilize it everyday. Then they dig a small hole beside the pumpkin vine.
In the hole they place a bowl full of sugar water. They cut into the vine a
few inches from the pumpkin and put one end of a candle wick. Then the
other end of the candle wick into the sugar water. In fact there is one on
each side of the pumpkin. NOW, I know this is just a children's story, but
I have always wondered if there is any truth to it? Your thoughts?
Thanks, Nance
