Re: Any advice on how to Control the Squash Vine Borer?
I also had problems 2 years ago , so last year I used Orthene and Isotox.
started spraying when plant had 5 leaves, and kept spraying once a week from
there on out. also before I planted I spread Grubex over the planting area
and turned it over. I had no problems with insects, however I had to hand
pollinate all pumpkins. I guess when you have a few dead bees in your patch
you get a bad rep. But I would stress you do not sell or eat any pumpkins
from this plant. these chemicals will work , but besides the weighoff your
pumpkin will be worthless for any thing but show, and that includes children
helping carve it. hope this helps paul P.S . any new grower be very
careful when using these products , they are helpful but also very toxic.
