Vince,
Very well said!!
So little is known about genes and traits in squash/pumpkins that may never
be known. We can still make consistent row crops without having the break
down understanding.
Talk about AG's and were ALL we got....the big fruit community------the
fun, the outrageous phenomenon of growth has no scientific backing..unless
Bill Gates feels sorry for us.
..all we got are US the ramblings, the keen observations, some
patterns...experience....and a lot of fun loving folk..
... yes a lot of luck.....although Pete Glasier is getting too lucky!...as
well as a lot of the other repeaters in the 1000lb range..
...I keep getting this haunting voice from George Webs tape from a pro
....repeatedly saying I think its all environment...............and then
Lincoln Met...introduces a new concept how to preserve pollen.....Say what??
the pro's ask...What great idea!.
..you got Madman Marc cloning extreme selfings or backcrosses..
...I don't think money could buy the dedication or attention we
have............ as we keep plugging and reaching new heights.....Why only a
few seeds have this vigor???....without the typical hybrid vigor
law......hell we may never know...
....I place my bet on the 1% cytoplasm genes but .........its a guess..I'll
never know..
..we got the good genes rising to the top which I think is true! but you get
these Bozo' that pop a 1200 with genes no later than 94...
....We now have to figure the odds of the same cross being duplicated.....oh
yeah by the same guy..
...wow I did once have a hell of a night in a casino when my favorite game
of chance roulette.. and hit 17 three times in a row........come on is thats
all it is??......we may never know ...We got a lot of good people with a lot
of good strategies.....MB
