Re: Best all time genetic characteristics

     Hi All,
OK here is my time to share !! I looked back and thought of all the seeds I
have grown and What made them the Best of the Best. I would have to say the
BEST plants I have grown come down between the 986* Hester , 719 Daletas and 611
Hester in that order. each one had its high points as to leaf size, stump
size etc. but as an overall the 986 Had it all !! started off from a seed so
small so oddly shaped I thought Brett had made a mistake packaging it but when it
came out of the ground WOW Monster Seed leaves and then it was a race. Large
leaves thick runner and had no problem supporting five fruit on a 500 sqft
plant. as the main pumpkin grew I gradually cut the runners off the main that
leaded to the Secondary pumpkins leaving a few leaves on the runner to keep those
pumpkins viable till Halloween. I ended up with the 758 Smith on the main, two
right at 500 lbs on side vines and two 350 plus LB pumpkins farther out on
the Secondaries. this plant was everything I could have wanted and still is my
favorite. Smooth Round Pumpkins buttery orange this was a Beautiful pumpkin
producer !! I tried the 986* last year and it produced Dark Green and then the
plant died in July due to soil problems but not only does this seed have a 1300+
LB pumpkin in it, it also has a 1300+ LB Squash in it Remember it is the
reverse cross with its sister the 895.5 Hester*. Well, this is my two cents Have a
great OFF Season !!
