Canadian Groundhog Dies!

I heard a news report today on ABC that the Canadian equivalent to the
Pennsylvania, now famous Groundhog, died the day before he was to come out and
predict the weather.  They put him in a pine casket and had a funeral instead
of waiting to see if he saw his shadow.

Is this true, did he die?
Does this mean Canada will not have a summer?
Will this mean they will loose the Pumpkin Tittle to the USA?
