Re: Dolly saved ????

"I have, for better or worse (hopefully the former) cut off
the main vine from Dolly onwards. This means that I have lost a lot of
foliage but there is now no pressure on Doll's stem at all. I have
painted the cracks with bacterial sealant pruning paste.

Please somebody - tell me I have done the right thing!!!!"

John- I did this for a pumpkin and a squash in '98 and the result was 809
for the pumpkin and 476 for the squash. I lost the pumpkin anyway, but it
grew well without the trailing vine. I was set 23 ft from the base so there
was already a lot of plant behind it.
