Greetings, all~
Just a note to say my season is off to a good start. I germinated seeds last
week and planted them yesterday. What a great feeling. Here's my lineup:
Eaton 780, McIntyre 835, Eaton 664, Brock 561.
I have to germinate another Rockwell 879, as the first one failed. I think it
failed because I chose a seed that was cracked in the mail. No problem, as I
have more.
I'm growing at home this year, as my 2 acre field has mosaic problems. To make
the garden at home, my husband was forced to plow under lush, Floratam sod on
the south side of the house. What a pity, but a good cover crop, indeed.
I am starting with four plants here in Florida, and will send some of my
favorite seeds to my friend, Vic Thomas in NY so that he can put some in his
patch as well. This way, I get to grow pumpkins 10 months out of the
year.....by the time I leave for the North country mid summer, his plants will
be just getting ready to bloom. That's when the fun begins.....
My friend and fellow Florida grower, Tim Canniff planted about a month ago.
His coastal location and southerly latitude allowed him to get a fine head
start on me!
Good luck to everyone this season!
