Hope springs eternal
My garden is about to overflow
These AG vines sure know how to grow
I’m covering vines as fast as I can
I’m dizzy from pruning, this wasn’t the plan
I wanted to sit, sip tea, and relax
Instead these plants are kicking my a**
Ice in the morning, keep vigil for bugs
Spray fertilizer, mix kelp up in jugs
On my knees in the mud, well into the night
I’ve blisters, sore muscles, and lots of bug bites.
I remember the wonder, the magical spark
Now I’m too tired to find it. This is awfully hard work.
But wait! See that female – the blossom looks yellow
By gosh I think it will open tomorrow!
Here we go! I’ve got one! Oh lord, I can’t wait
Hope springs eternal, it’s time to pollinate.
