Dan,
Just returning from out of town business and have 106 emails to catch up on,
but, boron deficiency can definitely cause growing tip problems and brittle
plant tissue. Boron is a trace element which can be quite toxic to plants
when over utilized so be careful. Eleven inches of rain will probably do to
your patch what 12 inches did to mine; leach much of the nutrients out of
it. Boron can be found in Miracle Grow, Peters and others. Hope this help.
