 Hi Josh....ABSOLUTELY NOT. It is believed that main vines and secondary 
vines produce food/nourishment for the plant(good) and that tertiaries likely 
use up more food than they create (bad).The food that the tertiaries use 
could be going to the pumpkin instead. It is also believed ,(although the 
urge is to get more plant by growing tertiaries), that a well pruned plant 
will actually produce a larger pumpkin. trim those tertiaries asap...when 
they are little buds if possible.......GlennA
