RE: What bug is this!!!

Mark,
Yes, that insect is definitely the squash vine borer Moth. Keep using
Sevin and mix a little of the Daconil (daconil is for the powdery mildew
which is early this year because of the rains) with the Sevin. You can
repeat application of Sevin, but mix it half the concentration recommended.
If you see this moth, smash it..........I got three more today, while I
was spraying. I noticed they have already hit my zucchini squash: bored
into the stems.
Bill Sadowski, in Ohio and checking daily for the Moth.

I should ask. I have been seeing a flying insect for the last few days that
concerns me. It is a little bigger than a wasp and very shiny black and the
one I saw today had a red stripe around it's mid-section. It flies very
eratic and quick. I have seen it either on or in the area of my AG plant
for the last 2 or three days. What is this and should I be concerned with
it's presence? It does not appear to be causing damage yet.

Also, we have been getting these pesky little thunderstorms at least every
other day for about a week and maybe 10 minutes of rain with each one. Just
enough to wash off insect and desease control spray. I am using a mix of
Daconil and Thiodan for control. Is it damaging to the plant to have to
repeat application every 2 or 3 days because of rain?

Thanks for any answers!<
