Re: Ciliberto 983/ flat vines

My 600 reynolds is slow at side vining even though the main is beautiful and
growing fast. I did hold this one in the pot longer than I like too, about
12-14 days instead of my usual 7-10. This was also damaged by hail but only
slightly.
On the double vining thing, I have 2 this year, the 1190 and 815 Checkons.
I'm only a 4th year grower so take this for what its worth. on the simplest
of observations I'd say mine were caused by a harsh drop to the ground when
they started to vine, you can almost see the kink. These 2 plants are back
to back 4' apart growing in opposite directions. They were started the same
day and have had identical conditions in the patch. One of my other hills
which is the 801 and 983 cilibertos were started a little later, have had
less wind exposure and did not flat vine. All plants are on the same
feeding\watering and pest and disease control schedule. So anyway I guess
what I'm saying is environmental factors is what I think caused my flat
vines, next year I'm going to put stuff under the vines before they start to
drop just in case. Maybe it was a combination of the temp\wind when they
started to drop? Great topic though
