Hey List,
    Yes, lions and tigers do cross, so do horses and donkeys, and most 
recently 
a Shetland pony and a Zebra!  They didn't even know the mare Shetland was 
pregnant until she delivered a tan and white striped foal.  I would like to 
add that at least two things have to happen for cross species fertilization. 
One the DNA have to be similar enough, and two they have to have similar 
mating/pollination habits. I think that animal
cross species offspring are themselves sterile, but do not know about plant 
crosses.
