Hi....I have downloaded two pictures to the GiantPumpkins forum in the hopes
of some experienced advice with a problem I'm having with my 900Lyons squash
plant.ALL the fruit grow up a few days and then develope stem cracks across
the grain of the stems before even leaning over to lay down. There are NO
apparent stresses on these stems other than compression due to the fruit
itself...and the cracks are perpendicular to the stress. The fruit are not
big...maybe 7inches in circumference...when this happens so its not like
anything's being crushed. These cracks are not bites as no flesh is
removed...just razor like cuts about 1/8 to 1/2 inch long that ooze
considerably. My plant is terminated, i have three fruit left...one which is
not growing more than an inchin circ a day and two like in the pictures....if
these abort/cut further i will have to pull the plant for lack of fruit.
Anyone ever seen this before?
Anyone know the cause?
Anyone know the solution?
Anyone want to come over and help me grow broccolli in its
place?.............G
