RE: Lack of secondary vines

That's happening here in NH also, not sure if it's from the 23" of rain we had, but i suspect so?
I think they will come out of it...

Has anyone ever experienced a plant that doesn't grow secondary vines? I cannot imagine it is good sign for the plant. It is now about 14-18ft long, with 2 pumpkins growing on it, but it pretty much, but not totally, stopped growing secondaries after the first 8 to 10 feet. And some of the secondaries that did grown, only grew maybe 6 or 7 feet long and them stopped. I have never had this happen with any other plant, and the other plant that I have going is just fine. The pumpkins that are on the plant are growing at a reasonable rate. I guess my question is...has anyone every experience this, do they know what cases it...and is there any hope for a plant without a lot of secondary vines?
Thanks.
Ben
