The Raccoon Thread

I'm sorry if I offended anyone with my remarks about killing raccoons. I was
responding to a question about pests damaging AGs, and like spraying for
insects before they appear, you have to be proactive in managing mammals
before they damage crops. I've gone the catch and release route for many
years, and I've realized I'm just giving my problems to someone else
unless I
transport varmints to the middle of a national forest, which
contributes to
greenhouse gases every time I drive to do it, yadda, yadda yadda.

If I can control a pest without killing it, that's great. If I can't, then
the forum is here to share ideas and solutions to problems. For many of us,
raccoons are a pest like rats or mice, cucumber beetles or squash bugs because
of the damage they do, and controlling them usually means killing them. To
quote the late Walter Cronkite: "And that's the way it is."
