I've seen a number of questions lately regarding fertilizer ratios for
growing giant pumpkins. I haven't noticed any answers being posted. Being
a newer grower I am very interested in knowing what ratios to use and when.
Are these questions being answered individually or is this a closely
guarded secret of successful growers? I haven't seen any answers to
questions regarding the water requirements of these plants either. My
pumpkins seem to be growing a bit slower than those being described by some
of the other people posting here. Gains of about 2" a day in circumference
on a fruit that was pollinated July 4. What can I do to give my pumpkins a
boost? I've buried vines and water with solar heated water. No bugs or
disease noted so far, so I really don't have any problems. I would just
like to optimize their growing conditions in any way I can. I'd like to
have a jack-o-lantern my kids could play in this fall.
Thanks, Chris Michalec
