Re: Grass around vines

AnnaMarie,

I have buried soaker hoses around the main plants in a 6x16 raised bed.
When I water, some trickles out from the bed onto the surrounding area.
Additionally, my automatic lawn sprinkler has helped the vines out on
the lawn except where too close to the sprinkler heads where they cause
leaf damage. I INTENDED to put soaker hose out along the path of the
main vines and bury them along with the vine, but the vines got away
from me before I realized it. If the main vines are damaged by borers
then the secondary roots along the vine will be very important later in
the season.

As to feeding, I use liquid fertilizer along the vines as well as at the
main plant.

Good growing,
