Pumpkin Flower might be on to something here. if you could use a inner
tube, air mattress, or combination of things that hold air, then as the
pumpkin get bigger you can slowly let the air out and lower it down.
maybe a set of tubes that bigger as you go down??? the down side is that
you might have to add air every so often - maybe daily, because those
things lose air on there own.
the big sling idea should work too- if it was stout enough to do the
job.
