moving...

here is my question for the day-

after we hopefully all grow this monster pumpkin - and even if we don't
but still get a decent sized one -... say 300lbs
how does one move it?
especially from the patch to the truck ?
if i got 4 or 5 of my friends to lift it with me - i would be afraid
that someone might slip, the pumpkin lean and the rest up us dropping it
on the poor guy who slipped.

do people ever grow there pumpkins on a pallet ?
or some strong tarp?
if you are a farmer and have a tracktor or backhoe that it wouldn't be
a problem- but what aout us back yard growers?

then once you get it to the truck do you put it on a pallet or something
softer.
if you hit a big bump would you risk spliting it?
I would guess the one would want to put something all around the sides
to protect it? or are they flat enough on the bottom that they just
stay in place?

the easiest route to the weigh-off site from my house is via the freeway
!

just wishfull planning ahead-
