As the plant grows, naturally the first secondary will be longer than the
next set and so on. The first set has had more time to grow so they will be
longer. The plant looks like the shape of a Christmas tree as it is growing
but will Eventually fill out to a rectangle unless you cut and bury them due
to space limitations or some other reason. Remember, they should be trained
away from the main vine to allow you room to access the main vine and to
avoid crowding. Once a canopy develops, you should have less weeds to
contend with.
