Natural Pruning, another System

I have been in a major battle with a groundhog and he is winning. I have now
constructed a chicken wire fence around my entire garden. Despite this the
groundhog moved a large rock and went into the garden through a small hole by
my gate. At this point he has eaten the tips off my primary vine and all of
the secondaries. He is now moving from the tips inward. I think the garden is
sealed off now and I will get to see what happens when you prune all of your
vines naturally. I am hoping there are some tertiary vines that will come on
quickly. Meanwhile my largest pumpkin continues to grow 3 to 4 inches a day. I
have another garden and so this is not the end. It is painful though.
Groundhogs are very tough customers. I will be treating them with more respect
after this season. Also I may start shooting them rather than catching them in
my trap. This groundhog, by the way, doesn't go for apples. What else would
make a good bait. Please don't tell me pumpkin vines.
