Polar Pack!!!!!

its the greatest thing since the drip hose!!!!! i call it the Polar pumpkin
pollinator. its and easy device to build and it keeps your newly pollinated
females cool all day. ive tried direct icing but on those 95+ days that only
lasted for an hour. so the other day this idea just popped into my head.it
costs about $20 dollars for all the materials and you can build about 7-8 of
them.well let me tell you how to build them.Materials: tomato cage, pie pan,
foil, wire, special insulation, bowl/lid big enough to fit over smallest ring
on cage. the insulation is a bubble wrap coated in aluminum. not only does it
insulate but it deflects the suns heat. i found it in the plumbing section of
the local hardwaer store. it comes in 15' x 18 ". perfect to wrap around
cage. 1.take your three ringed tomatoe cage and turn it upside down. remove
the long gangly wires sticking in the air. then remove the bottom hoop" just
the hoop not the verical wires"!
2.use your wire to create an x in your middle ring, to set the pan on.then
make an x on top of the pan to secure it. 3.wrap the cage with insulation
begin from the top. the insulation is 18" and the cage is about 24" now so
you will have 6" of exposed vertical wire to anchor the pack in the ground.
tie the insulation to the cage with the wire. 4. take what ever you can find
for a lid and wrap it in foil. make sure the lid fits snugly. i used the
water bowl to an indoor flower pot ,but whatever works aye! now it should
look something like an foil rocket. how it works. after you pollinate on a
expected hot day stick your polar pumpkin pollinator in the ground above the
female. take a big block of ice that you froze the night before. i used an
icecream jug and a milk carton , but again whatever works!"crushed ice doesnt
last as long and is too much work". put the ice block on top of the piepan.
and put the lid on top. the ice should last all day and keeps your prize
winning pumpkin airconditioned. ive inclosed a drawing of the ppp and and
will send picture of it in action this weekend. i hope you understood my
directions and try my idea. believe me it works and its neat to see fiol
rockets in your pumpkin patch. if you need more help building it or better
directions feel free to email me. sky62hawk@aol.com well i hope i made a
contribution to the pumpkin loving world.
p.s. please do not try to take responsability for my invention or try to make
money on it.its a scientific contribution to the pupmkin comunity and not to
make a profit. enjoy!!!!!!!
