I think maybe nylon stockings over ALL flowers that are needed, and pick the
rest before they open? That might work best, since the flowers seem to
attract them, and since we do not want to spray in them, offer a safe haven
for them, even for awhle. If they are forced to go only on the leaves (and at
first I didn't think this was good), they will have to come in contact with
the Sevin right away. I JUST wish there was something VERY effective against
CB, but totally harmless to bees! That would be great, since there are
hundreds in the flowers, and that would wipe them out REALLY fast!
Oh well. I know some parasitic nematodes CAN attack the grub stage of CB. I
tried that last year, but to be really effective, you need a good mulch, and
the temps needs to be just right, and the timing, etc.
