FYI; I have noticed that quite a few people recommending the use of Sevin. I have been using Eight with great success. To determine if Sevin or Eight works better I e-mailed Earl May Nursery and Garden Centers and the following is their response:
Good Afternoon from our Merchandise Department
Eight contains a second generation pyrethroid called Permathrin. It is the future of insect control, and will replace Sevin. It has a longer residual and controls more insects than Sevin. As for as control of the two insects you are inquiring about, Eight will work on both. Other controls are listed below:
Squash Vine Borer; Preventative sprays only, once the borer is inside the stem, insecticides are not effective. Use liquid Eight, Eight dust, Malathion, Rotenone, Earl May Fruit Tree Spray to terminate the moth.
Squash Bugs; Treat both plants and soil with Eight dust, liquid Eight, or Rotenone. All the products listed above are available in the Earl May label.

I guess if you are a die-hard Sevin user you better buy it now before it's gone. I use Eight at weekly intervals and have found dead bugs all around my patch. If you have any questions use the above URL. I have found the people at Earl May very prompt, detailed and efficient in answering my questions.
